The journey from Frankfurt am Main takes 1.5 hours, from Brussels  just under 2 hours, from Paris around 3.5 hours and from London less than 4.5 hours.

The following highways will take you directly to Aachen:

From Cologne - Düsseldorf - Liège:
Freeway A4 (E40), at Aachener Kreuz continue on the A 544, exit Europaplatz (end of the freeway), direction city center

From the Netherlands:
A4 freeway (E40), exit Aachen Zentrum, turn right towards Zentrum

An environmental zone was introduced in Aachen on February 1, 2016.
Only vehicles with a green sticker or exemption permit are allowed to enter the low emission zone.

The boundary of the low emission zone is largely based on Aachen's outer ring road and includes all roads within this area. The map  (pdf) available via the following link provides an overview.
